Hospitality Studies - FETAC Level 5 Major Award
Incorporating:
- One Year FETAC Level 5 Course in Hotel and Catering
- Ethics- Stephen Covey Course, 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens, Volunteering with social projects.
The one year International Hospitality Studies programme at Lismullin Hospitality Services Centre covers all the major theoretical and practical components of a hotel operation. It enables the student to acquire skills necessary to manage a hotel or home operation, and at the same time adheres to world-class standards. Lismullin offers Leadership skills, Career Goal Setting anf practise in Teamwork.
Progression Route for Hospitality
If you qualify with the required number of module distictions, this FETAC course follows a progression route to a degree in Culinary Arts provided by the Institutes of Technology or to Shannon College of Hotel Management,
We also have links to Lexington College of Hospitality in Chicago, and to Kenvale College of Tourism and Hospitality,Sydney,Australia,where they do a 3 year Bachelor of Hospitality Degree, if you would like to study in either of these places.
Programme
The Course in Lismullin Hospitality Services Centre is comprised of two separate components
FETAC level 5 Major Award Course DHCXX in Hotel and Catering and Hospitality Skills for Life which includes the following modules:
- Hospitality and Accommodation
- Food & Beverage Service
- Food Preparation
- Personal Effectiveness in the workplace
- Customer Service
- Work Experience
- Communications
- Safety & Health at Work
Entry Requirements
- The course is open to Irish and International students.
- Leaving Cert standard
- You must be aged at least 17 on 31st December of the year in which you start the course.
- Non-Irish students must have fluent English or IETS or Cambridge exam
- Successful Interview.
- Provide two References.
Course Information
Duration
Full-time, one academic year course: mid Sept-end May
Classes: Monday-Thursday weekly, 10.00am-5.00pm. daily.
The Course
Hands-on cookery, with theory and practise of professional cookery- accommodation, dining room and laundry service classes, along with lecture courses, help you gain the skills you'll need for a successful career in the culinary and hospitality fields and a qualification for life. Classic and contemporary culinary techniques are covered. You will also learn about business management, hotel operations, and even wine appreciation!
On completion of the course you should attain a FETAC Level 5 Major Award in Hotel and Catering and be prepared for employment in the hospitality industry, or to progress to any field of your choice.
Fees
Once enrolment is confirmed in writing and secured, students are required to make a first instalment of €500 on or before 1st September. The balance of fees €2,000 will be due on commencement of the course.
€2500.00 payment covers 1 course OR €3,000 for 2 courses studied simultaneously.
